Hamish and Lisa Molloy have had a month to remember thanks to Farm Source Reward Dollars.
Hamish and Lisa live just out of Methven in the Canterbury Plains milking 800 cows across 160ha, a 27ha home block and 40ha leased from a neighbour. Until 2022, they also owned Cairnbrae Seed Cleaning Limited, which they ran for 30 years before deciding to sell the business and focus on the dairy farm.
In December, the couple set off to Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, meeting up with two of their children (who live in Perth) for Christmas. Then it was back to New Zealand to check on the farm before jet-setting off to Melbourne for the Australian Open in late January where they were court-side for the Women’s and Men’s Semi-finals and the Women’s Finals.
"It was quite exciting, definitely a bucket list item ticked off. I used to play a lot of tennis, and years ago went to the Davis Cup in Christchurch. It was amazing seeing how fast the international players are. Last year, some of our friends said they were heading to the Australian Open in 2024 and invited us to join them. My wife is a keen tennis follower so we jumped at the chance. We were able to cash in our Farm Source Rewards Dollars to pay for the flights – both to Melbourne for the Open and before that for Christmas in Mooloolaba," Hamish says.
"It all adds up. Buying farm items throughout the year, you end up accruing savings through without even knowing it."
