How does ZincCheck work?
- STEP 1: Book a ZincCheck - First test free, limited time only.
- STEP 2: Milk sampled - A bulk milk sample is taken and tested.
- STEP 3: Test results sent - Test results are sent via email within 10 days.
- STEP 4: Check results - Check results and adjust Zinc levels if required.

Bookings are available now and tests can take place from 12 January 2026.
Fonterra is providing one free test per farm. Further tests will come at the cost of $99 per test.*
* Fonterra will make an automatic deduction from your farm’s milk payment if you request a ZincCheck. Offer available for a limited time.
We recommend testing once you start your full zinc dosing regime and then again once any corrective actions have been taken. An additional test later in the season could confirm the dosing regime is still working, especially if changes have been made to the supplementation method.
When we email your ZincCheck results, we will also provide you with the relevant next steps and actions to take in line with your farm’s results.

ZincCheck is a bulk milk test so is representative of all the animals present in the milking herd. A blood test is more specific to the individual animals tested, and assumes the results are a representation of the herd. Blood testing is still considered the gold standard of zinc testing, however ZincCheck gives you a non-invasive and cost-effective way to check on your milking herd.
