Since 2014, Farm Source has provided New Zealand farmers with a space where farmers can meet, have a coffee and a yarn, and pick up advice along with farm supplies.
There is a reason they are called “Our Place”.
Each Farm Source store has a drop-in lounge and facilities that farmers can use. The stores are the home base for the Co-op’s regional on-farm support teams who provide personalised assistance and advice to farmers in each region. Those who work in the stores, live locally and understand the challenges and opportunities presented in the region.
“Farm Source is a key component of our farming system, particularly our local Te Aroha store. Trevor and the team there, with their knowledge of our farm and its unique requirements, make our on-farm decisions and continuity of operations so much easier,” says M. Spooner of Oakdale Agriculture Ltd.
Te Aroha farmers have welcomed the reopening of their trusted store after a three-month renovation. The site now features new spaces, and a community area.
“We have always been one of the busiest Farm Source stores in the Waikato comparative to our number of farmers and we now have a wonderful site that our community can really enjoy."
"It’s a space where our farmers can connect with each other and be supported by the full strength of the co-operative,” says Farm Source Te Aroha store manager Trevor Heays.
While the store was closed for renovation, Trevor and the Farm Source Te Aroha team delivered products directly to the 100+ farms nearby.
“We were conscious that the closure was happening during a busy time on-farm and we wanted to make sure our farmers were catered for. We provided around 600 deliveries while we were closed and met with farmers in person at nearby stores. It worked well but it’s great to be back in our own store again,” says Trevor.
