Off-target spray can also damage neighbouring crops, shelter belts or riparian plantings. With the right adjuvant, however, you can reduce spray drift, improve the safety and efficiency of application, and get the best out of your investment in crop protection.
Adjuvants come in many forms, including surfactants, penetrants, crop oils, de-foaming agents, drift retardants and markers. Amigo® is an adjuvant formulated by Nufarm for drift reduction. Development work shows Amigo® achieves a significant reduction in spray drift when compared with water alone. It performs well at low use rates.
It’s plant friendly, and does not cause cuticle or cell injury, unlike some adjuvants – oils for example – which can disrupt chemical uptake and translocation. As well as creating more uniform droplet size and increasing droplet retention, it also has an excellent anti-foam system built in.
Amigo works well with the Nufarm phenoxy herbicide range and with CRUCIAL®. It is recommended for use in challenging conditions and around sensitive crops, and can be applied aerially. However, if you’re spraying CRUCIAL® with Pulse® Penetrant, Amigo® cannot go into the tank as well. When Pulse® Penetrant and Amigo® are used together, they have an antagonistic effect. Choose one or the other, but not both.
Pulse® Penetrant is formulated to reduce the surface tension of CRUCIAL® spray droplets, so they spread over a bigger surface area. Amigo® is formulated to do the opposite.
