A decade of making a difference: Agpac’s charitable journey with TrioWorld

  • Community

Ten years ago, a personal tragedy sparked an idea that would resonate around the globe.

Following the loss of a close family member to breast cancer, one of Agpac’s representatives in New Zealand, Sam Southcombe, suggested using the colour of silage film to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.

This simple yet powerful concept led to the creation of a pink silage film by Agpacs premier stretch film supplier, TrioWorld.

Agpac New Zealand began as the first country to offer this film and dedicating a portion of sales to supporting Sweet Louise, an organisation that provides care and resources to those battling breast cancer.

The initiative took root and blossomed, capturing the hearts and minds of agricultural communities across the globe with Trio expanding the pink campaign to Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK and Ireland the following year.

Now, a decade later, globally over 13 million bales have been wrapped in coloured silage film and over 1.7 million Euro donated to the causes they stand for. In New Zealand alone, over $255,000 has been donated to charitable partners.

Alongside TrioWorld, Sam’s pink silage film idea became a symbol of hope and support for breast cancer awareness the world over. The vivid pink rolls, now a common sight in fields and farms, serve as a constant reminder of the fight against this devastating disease.

Building on the success of the pink silage film, TrioWorld and Agpac expanded their charitable efforts by introducing a blue silage film to support prostate cancer and yellow, for child’s cancer.

This year, Agpac formed a partnership to support BluBlokes, an initiative focused on raising awareness for men’s health issues, including both prostate cancer and mental health. With the TrioWrap Plus Blue stretch film, Agpac has been able to extend its charitable reach, ensuring that the conversation around health and well-being is inclusive and comprehensive.

Today, Agpac’s colourful silage films are more than just agricultural tools; they are beacons of philanthropy and social responsibility.

Through their continued support of Sweet Louise and BluBlokes, Agpac and Trio World have demonstrated the power of innovation and community spirit. As this movement celebrates its 10th anniversary, it stands as a testament to the impact that a single idea can have when nurtured with care and commitment.

Agpac’s dedication to using its platform for the greater good not only underscores its leadership in the crop packaging industry but also its commitment to creating a positive impact in the lives of countless individuals and communities worldwide.
