For Rebecca Mahoney, the NZAgbiz range has become a key component in her calf and lamb rearing operation.
Calf and lamb rearing has always been a big part of Rebecca's (Becs) Tararua District farm. "We've got about 1,000 acres across five different properties, with lots of large sheds and rearing facilities on all of those properties. This year, we'll have done 2,000 lambs by the finish, and we will have done 2,500 calves.”
After trying other products on the market, Becs and the team have landed on the NZAgbiz range to deliver the growth rates they need.
"All our calves are reared on Ancalf™, and the lambs are reared on Anlamb™."
"We dabbled with different products, trying to find the right ones that work on the calves before choosing Ancalf. I love the product. There's nothing I'd use other than Ancalf."
"For our lambs, we're getting growth rates between 350 and 500 grams a day on Anlamb. Our new lambs always adapt to the feed quickly, from birth. Any lamb that's growing at 350 to 500 grams a day on any type of feed, you're not going to complain about.”
"I’ve also used heaps of BioSupport this year. We give it as a once-off mix to a weak lamb or one not doing as well, but it's more on the calf side of it that we've used quite a bit and found it really, really good - to the extent where I wouldn't not put it in my milk.”
As much as she’s enjoying the NZAgbiz’s product range, it’s the relationship with her local Territory Manager, Julie Baguley that really stands out as a winner.
"With Julie on board from NZAgbiz, we’ve got a really, really good relationship with her, and she's fantastic to work with. Good service. Punctual. Things arrive on time. She comes down, she gets in the shed. Business is all about relationships, and that's the part that I enjoy."
"Knowledge is powerful in farming. If you've got the knowledge as a group, and it comes supported with good products, then it makes decision-making simpler. It's made the season easier, that's for sure," says Becs.
